"For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God." Gourma learning with kids

Language study is progressing...slowly, but we're advancing.  The truth is, it just takes time.  Even for the very best language learners in the world, 5 or 6 months is a pretty short time.

Some of the best language helpers can be kids.  Sure, they laugh when you mess up, but they're also more understanding and patient than adults.

So one of the activities that I've started doing is to go out with pastor Lamoudi (pronounced Lah-moo-dee) to help him with his kids' clubs.  We play a couple of games and talk with the kids, and then Lamoudi tells them a Bible story with his Bible picture book.  He asks me to read a Bible verse in Gourma and help the kids memorize the verse.

In the picture above (sorry it didn't focus well), Lamoudi is telling the story of the prodigal son to about 30 kids.  Interestingly, the building in the background is the local neighborhood mosque.

So I can't say a whole lot to the kids in Gourma yet.  But I have fun trying.  And it's a good challenge.
